Chief Magistrate Linah Mokibe-Oahile of Broadhurst Magistrate Court ruled in Gaborone today that the triple murder accused, Kativa Diwanga, be remanded in custody. He will appear again on August 8.

He is accused of killing Mr Methuseli Nsoliwa, wife and their daughter. Another suspect in the case, Thomas Gilala, was arrested in Namibia recently and has been interviewed by the investigating team.

The prosecution led by Ms Onkemetse Gaboutlwelwe earlier submitted that Diwanga was a flight risk, adding that if released on bail, he could cross to Namibia.

The prosecution also confirmed to court that the investigating team went to Namibia for further investigations.

The team interviewed Gilala, who was found in possession of four mobile phones and he confirmed that he was from Tanzania.

The two cellphones belonged to Mr Nsoliwa and his wife.

Furthermore, Gilala was found with a camouflage jacket belonging to the deceased man and a relative identified it.

Investigation team reportedly established that Kativa Diwanga’s relatives lived in Namibia. Police yet to find how the accused, Kativa Diwanga acquired Botswana citizenship. Ends
