JTC rewards student
18 Aug 2013
Jwaneng Town Council has rewarded the second overall best students who did form five at Good Hope Senior Secondary School last year.
Mopati Ramotsetsi was presented with a box full of school stationary that is expected to help him as he furthers his studies abroad.
When explaining the gift, Jwaneng town clerk, Mr Dick Kalantle, said Mopati made not only his parents proud but the whole of Jwaneng and as such he should be encouraged and recognised for his hard work.
Mr Kalantle said Mopati was an inspiration and a role model to students in Jwaneng. Mopati thanked the council for its gesture and explained that it was through hard work and dedication that he got good results, adding that there were challenges but with determination and focus he was able to conquer them.
He encouraged students that would be sitting for their examinations to have clear visions and goals and to stay away from situations that could ruin their chances to a bright future and strongly cautioned against drug and substance abuse that students tended to find themselves in.
Mopati warned students that they were going to face challenges in their studies and therefore they should be patient and not give up, adding that some challenges might be beyond their control but they should always have hope and never forget their goals in life.
He further said if the students could imagine a bright future for themselves they will surely have it through hard work.
He scooped six A* and three A in his BGCSE examinations. With his results, he will benefit from the Ministry of Education and Skills Development programme of top achievers where he is expected to jet off to Britain to further his studies. Ends
