Police probe accident
13 May 2019
Police in Pandamatenga are investigating an incident in which two people burnt to ashes on May 12 when the vehicle they were travelling in collided with a bus.
In an interview, Superintendent Nelson Museke said the accident occurred about four to five kilometres from Pandamatenga when a Honda CRV collided head-on with a Maun-Kasane bus around 11pm.
It is suspected the driver of the Honda CRV lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the wrong lane, resulting in a head-on collision that led to the two vehicles catching fire.
He said the bus had 26 people, including the driver on board, but they all escaped unhurt while the occupants of the other vehicle burnt to dearth.
He said the remains of the deceased suspected to be that of a man and a woman were at Kasane Primary Hospital mortuary while the next of kin have not yet been found and informed.
The bus was travelling from Kasane to Maun while the Honda CRV was heading the opposite direction. ENDS
