14 Aug 2013

Two brothers from Bodibeng died after the vehicle they were travelling in overturned few kilometers from Bodibeng junction over the weekend.

Sehithwa station commander, Superintendent Nelson Museke said in an interview that the deceased were travelling in a Department of Wildlife and National Parks (DWNP) vehicle with five others including a four year-old child. The vehicle was on an official trip from Tsabong.

He explained that the deceased aged 45 and 62 years were certified dead at Letsholathebe II Memorial hospital in Maun. He said the four year-old child was in a critical condition at Nyangabwe Referral hospital in Francistown, while the other passengers including the driver were being treated for minor injuries at Letsholathebe.

He further said investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, adding that the driver was tested for alcohol and was found not to be under the influence.  The names of the deceased are still withheld to inform their next of kin.

Superintendent Museke warned people to travel during the day since at night there were a lot of wild animals and cattle along the roads which cause accidents. He stated that government vehicles were not allowed to carry unauthorised passengers and urged members of the public to use public transport. Ends
