A Molepolole man accused of threatening to kill his own mother over his father’s inheritance has been granted conditional bail by Molepolole Senior Magistrate, Ms Nthabiseng Merafe-Tladi
The 38-year-old Obi Mokgosi of Goora-Ntsono ward in Molepolole allegedly threatened to kill his mother on March 5 following misunderstanding over what remained from funeral contributions.
Mokgosi allergedly threatened to kill his mother by uttering the words, “Mpha madi a a setseng mo lesong la ga ntate e seng jalo ke tlaa go biletsa lekoko lame mo tseleng a bo ke go bolaya ke tsaya madi.” (Give me the money that remained from my father’s funeral or else I will call my friends to kill you).
Magistrate Merafhe-Tladi overruled a plea by the prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent Upapo Koketso to have the accused remanded to allow completion of police investigations on the matter.
Mokgosi was released on conditional bail by binding himself with P2 000 and to produce one surety of the same amount as well as to have regular court appearances. His bail will be revoked if he does not abide by the set bail conditions.
The court further ordered the police to assist with Mokgosi’s removal from his mother’s home, and that he should not have contact with any of the prosecution’s possible witnesses or contact them through any means. ENDS
