Tlokweng police find decomposed body

12 Mar 2019

A decomposed body of a 45-year-old Zimbabwean man was found hanging from a tree on March 10.

Tlokweng police station commander, Superintendent Unoziba Rari, said in an interview that the deceased was found by a passerby.

The body, he said was, badly decomposed and was taken for postmortem before burial arrangements could be instituted.

He, however, said it was unlikely that the body would be ferried back to Zimbabwe due to its state, adding that the deceased’s family had been notified and they were travelling to Botswana.

Supt Rari stated that the deceased had left a note of whom to contact, but he did not state reasons for taking his life.

He, however, said the note proved to be vital to the police investigations since it led them to the person with connections to the family in Zimbabwe.

“He left a contact number of a person who goes to the same church with his parents,” Superintendent Rari said.

He further said the police investigations were ongoing to determine, among other things, if the deceased had entered the country legally.

Superintendent Rari ssaid although such incidents of people killing themselves in Tlokweng were widely publicised, they were not unique to the area.

He appealed to members of the community, particularly men, to always seek help from counsellors, pastors and other people who could help them and not take their own lives. Ends
