Council to procure teaching materials

Molepolole/Lentsweletau Sub-council managed to procure teaching and learning materials of over P6 million out of the budget provision of P9.5 million, reflecting an expenditure of 64 per cent of the approved budget.
Officially opening the Molepolole/Lentsweletau Sub-council meeting on February 18, chairperson Mr Botokanyana Motoroko expressed gratefulness about the development and hoped this could bring significant improvement in the district’s academic performance.
“This has significantly improved the teaching and learning process as all the 40 primary schools of Molepolole Administrative Authority (MAA) started relatively well within the first weeks of school opening,”
Mr Motoroko further cautioned primary school heads against sending pupils back home for procurement of stationery as the district has adequate funding for the supply of learning materials.
In regard to issues pertaining to ploughing season, Molepolole Administration Authority is anticipating low yield due to late rains received in the area.
Mr Motoroko also raised concern over the increasing number of malnutrition cases in the sub-district and that it has increased from 2.7 to 3.1 with cases mostly reported from RADS areas and cattle posts.
The contributing factors, he said, were mostly due to the fact that people in the affected areas did not adhere to hygiene standards.
The council chairperson further updated the meeting about progress in most ESP projects that included maintenance of primary schools around the sub-district.
The sub-district, according to Mr Motoroko, was experiencing problems in huge payments of electricity bills leading to reduction of wattages of the tower lights fittings from 1 000 to 400.
He also said the project for the completion of installation of tower lights in Lentsweletau, Gakuto and Sojwe was warded to three contractors and they are at an advanced stage.
He said regular maintenance of streetlights is a great challenge for the sub-council as it results in the increase of maintenance expenditure. ENDS
