Ministry aware of SDA Hospital stance

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness Mr Biggie Butale says the ministry is aware that the Seventh Day Adventist (SAD) Hospital in Kanye does not provide condoms to unmarried couples.
Mr Butale, who was answering a question in Ntlo ya Dikgosi on recently noted that services at the hospital were offered on a partnership arrangement, adding however that the ministry has been in discussion with the hospital on the matter.
He assured dikgosi that the ministry would continue to engage with the hospital, indicating in addition that they would also continue to ensure provisions of condoms at alternative health facilities around the village.
Kgosi Seate Marumo of Kanye region had asked if the minister was aware that the SDA Hospital in Kanye did not provide condoms to unmarried people, pointing out that this could fuel the spread of Sexually Transmitted Infections.
Addressing a different issue still at Ntlo ya Dikgosi, Minister Nonofo Molefhi for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration stated that there were no immediate plans to open a Botswana Television (Btv) office in Palapye, explaining that the village was currently being covered by the Serowe office with complementary service bring provided by the Selebi Phikwe office.
Mr Molefhi said the Department of Broadcasting Services had recently deployed a second Btv crew to Serowe in order to enhance news coverage in the Central District, particularly in areas such as Palapye, where Btv had no physical presence.
Kgosi Kgomotso Boiditswe of Serowe Region had wanted to know when the ministry would consider establishing a Btv office in Palapye for coverage of events in the surrounding areas. Ends
