Duo appear for robbery
22 Jan 2019
The two Thamaga men suspected of robbing the owner of Big Savings Supermarket, Mr Nazrulislam Tirmizi P8 000 cash had, on January 18, been arraigned before Molepolole Senior Magistrate Ms Lindiwe Makgoro.
The suspects; Collen Baatweng and Tsietsi Nkgwang, males aged 37 and 39 of Thamaga, on the night of January 15 at Matsila ward in Thamaga, armed with a riffle robed the said P8 000 from the victim.
They as well got away with two cellphones valued at P500, 30 packets of Peter Stuyvesant cigarettes valued at P1 500, assorted airtime vouchers from Mascom, Orange and BTC of the total value of P5 000 after they allegedly fired gunshots to the victim in order to retain the stolen items.
The prosecutor Sub-inspector Moshe Karabo had pleaded for the remand of the two suspects to enable the arrest of the other two, who were still on the run.
Sub-inspector Karabo’s plea was on the basis that the matter was still at an infancy stage as it had occurred some three days ago with two more suspects still on the run, arguing that the release of the suspects may jeopardise police investigations. ENDS
