Police investigate truck accident
14 Jan 2019
Police in Kalkfontein are investigating an incident in which a doubled trailer truck caught fire 25 kilometres before Kalkfontein, along the Trans Kalahari Highway, recently.
In an interview, Kalkfontein station commander, Assistant Superintendent Pizhani Kobole, said they received a report from driver of the truck that the trailer had caught fire.
He said the fire brigade managed to extinguish the fire, though the trailer tipped on its side, while the second trailer and truck head were not affected.
He said no injuries were sustained, while investigations to establish the cause of the fire were ongoing.
The truck, which was heading to Namibia from South Africa, was carrying 36 tonnes of maize.
He said the other trailer was left to continue on its journey, after the site was cleared.
In a separate matter, Mr Kobole said they were searching for a 25-year-old Kalkfontein man, who was reported missing on January 8.
He explained that the same person was reported missing on December 23, last year but later his family withdraw the report after he was spotted in Ghanzi. ENDS
