Companies donate to Tshikinyega triplets

03 Jan 2019

Two Mahalapye residents, Mr Michael Mosipidi and Mr Boniface Disho have assembled donations for a family that was recently blessed with triplets. Speaking during the handing over ceremony which was held at the family’s residence in Tshikinyega, Mr Mosipidi said being blessed with triplets was a luck for society,   and that it should be celebrated by all.

He said after learning of the family’s plight he realised that communities assistance was required to lessen the family’s burden, and that he was reminded of the Setswana saying that it takes a community to raise a child.

Mr Mosipidi also said he was reminded of the past where no family could sleep on an empty stomach, adding that molaletsa, letsema and mahisa bridged the gap between the rich and poor and that everyone was able to fend for their families while happiness was the reigning principle.

He said he then liaised with a friend and together they approached companies seeking donations for the babies. He said their pleas received positive response from various entities such as Jet Stores, PEP, My Cell, Shoppers, Patel and other individuals.

The good Samaritans donated clothing, toiletries, food and cash amounting to P3 795.

Receiving the gifts, the 34-year-old mother of the trio, Ms Ontiretse Kaboyamodimo expressed gratitude and said that the gifts would go a long way in the lives of her young babies.

She said her babies, two girls and a boy, were a blessing and hence she named them Afiwa, Anaiwa and Romeo. They were born on October 16, 2018 at Nyangabwe Referral Hospital in Francistown.

In his remarks, the councillor for Parwe ward, Mr Kealebale Sampson applauded the spirit of volunteerism that existed among Batswana, adding that it was a welcome development as the government alone could not manage to assist all the needy in the country.  Councillor Sampson urged the family to joyfully take care of the children and help in raising and guiding them. He also advised them to ask for help should the need arise. ENDS
