Tlokweng police register defilement case

Police in Tlokweng registered a case of defilement on December 27.
Superintendent Unodziba Rari of Tlokweng police said the incident, which occurred at Masetlheng ward involved a 13-year-old girl and a man aged 35.
Supt Rari said the man, who is a neighbour to the girl’s family, allegedly called the victim to his house under the pretext that he wanted to send her on some errand.
He said the alleged perpetrator was in custody assisting the police with investigations.
Apart from the defilement case, Supt Rari said they recorded a some assaults cases, which occurred in Modipane at a night club.
Also, he said, since the start of the festive period, Tlokweng Police Station had registered six cases of drunken driving.
Other than that, Supt Rari noted that his policing area had remained generally calm with members of the public behaving well and cooperating with the police.
Furthermore, he said there had been no reports of criminal activities that could be attributed to the increase in trading hours for the alcohol industry.
Meanwhile in Maun, police recorded four incidents of rape and one incident of unlawful wounding that took place between December 24-26.
Station commander, Superintendent Motlhaba Ramaabya confirmed in an interview that three cases of rape were recorded at Boseja ward, one took place at Shashe ward while unlawful wounding happened at Kubung ward.
The first incident involved a 25-year-old woman who was raped by a 30-year-old man at her house around 4am.
He explained that the victim who was with her boyfriend left the door unlocked.
In addition, he said the victim and her partner managed to catch the suspect who tried to run away after the incident and reported the matter to the police.
In another incident, Superintendent Ramaabya said a 24-year-old woman was raped by a certain man known to her.
He said the suspect visited the victim and raped her around 2pm.
The third incident involved a 15-year-old girl who met her fate while walking as a 24-year-old man dragged her in the bush and raped her but the suspect was arrested on December 25.
The last incident which took place at Shashe ward involved a 26-year-old woman who was raped by an unknown man while sleeping at night.
The police chief said the suspect was still at large.
He said investigations concerning the cases were on going and appealed to the community to assist in the arrest of other culprits.
Still in Maun, a 32-year-old man was arrested on December 26 after stabbing her 41-year-old girlfriend with a sharp object.
Superintendent Ramaabya said the incident took place at Kubung ward and the woman sustained serious injuries.
The victim is reported to be recuperating at Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital. ENDS
