Police investigate robbery

28 Nov 2018

Police in Nata are investigating an incident in which a Chinese national residing in Nata was robbed of a vehicle, money and mobile phone on Friday night at his residence.

In an interview with BOPA, Nata Police Station commander Superintendent Vincent Pitseitsile said a group of young men are said to have stormed at the victim’s residence before taking away his Volkswagen Jetta vehicle, mobile phone and an undisclosed amount of cash, which consisted of foreign currencies.

He further said their records indicated that it was not the first time he was robbed in a similar pattern.

He was once robbed while residing at Masunga in the North East District.

Supt Pitseitsile said investigations into the matter were still ongoing in search of the culprits.

In another incident at Sepako, Supt Pitseitsile said a man aged between 60 and 70 was attacked and killed by a buffalo.

He said the man left his house to collect firewood behind Sepako Primary School when he was attacked by the dangerous animal.

He thus appealed to communities to be cautious as wild animals were in search of water, particularly during this time of a dry season.

He said many of the water ponds had dried up where they had been getting water.

Still at Sepako, he said a 50-year- old woman hanged herself following a misunderstanding with her partner at a beer drinking spot.

He said the woman was found hanging from a nearby tree by the partner, who had left after the misunderstanding.

The man reported the matter to the police. ENDS
