04 Aug 2013
The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has applauded civil servants for the sterling job they are doing in preparing for poverty eradication workshops.
Giving the closing remarks at the three-day poverty eradication workshop in Damochojenaa on Saturday, Mr Masisi said without their contribution, which included amongst other things, preparing for such workshops, government would not be able to achieve its mandate.
The minister praised civil servants for showing determination and a will to work, adding that it showed that everybody was aware that poverty issues affected all. He said apart from preparing for these events, civil servants were also doing the vital job of encouraging and sharing information about the initiative with the general public.
He pointed out that poverty eradication needed concerted efforts from all stakeholders, saying government provides education on how to get out of abject poverty and it was the responsibility of beneficiaries to make sure that they make use of the information
Beneficiaries were informed that after such workshops, it was their responsibility to make sure that they use the knowledge and information gained as government was determined to see all of them get out of abject poverty
Minister Masisi also cautioned beneficiaries that there were selfish people out there who wanted to see the initiative fail but the sad thing was that they did not have anything to say or offer. Beneficiaries were urged to ignore such critics.
He told residents of Damochojenaa that it was government’s intention to leave a mark whereever they hosted the workshop and thus as residents, they should decide what to do with the place where the workshop was held. ENDS
