Court grants trio conditional bail
14 Oct 2018
Molepolole magistrate, Mr Raphael Ike has granted conditional bail to three of the four suspects accused of stealing nine horses worth over P60 000 in August this year.
The trio of Maitshoko Mmereki of Boatlaname, Mooketsi Bakaetswe and Babogisi Molapisi both of Mokgenene, are accused of stealing the nine horses near Mmamhatse cattle-post on August 1 this year.
The trio were required, as part of the conditional bail, to bind themselves with P2 000 and provide one surety each to the same amount.
The bail conditions also prohibit the accused from interfering with state witnesses and to report themselves at Mokgenene Police Post fortnightly.
Meanwhile, state prosecutor in the matter, Sergeant Modiredi Modise pleaded with the court to further remand the fourth accused, Mpho Koolibile as he still had other cases pending before court, among them another stock-theft case as well as malicious damage to property.
Koolibile, however, tried to convince the court that all the cases mentioned were from a long time back and that some of them have been dismissed.
He further told the court that he cooperated well with Sojwe police, as he handed himself in upon hearing that they were looking for him.
According to the charge sheet, the four accused men allegedly stole nine horses worth P62 000 belonging to Mr Kingsly Kgosidintsi on August 1 this year near Mmamhatshe cattle post in Kweneng District.
The four accused will appear again on October 25. ENDS
