Man in court for molesting daughter

Molepolole Magistrate Ms Rosemary Khuto was on September 26 expected to deliver judgement in a case in which a Lentsweletau man age 42 is accused of molesti his daughter aged 12.
The suspect is alleged to have on the day in question molested his daughter after he lured her to take him half way to his parents’ place.
It is said that on the way the accused started to hold the victim in a manner suggesting sexual advances before the girl escaped and went to report the matter to her grandfather.
Lobatse based Southern Division Prosecutor Sub Inspector Gosiame Tshosa called four witnesses among them the accused’s father, sister as well as the investigating officer who testified against the accused.
According to the charge sheet, the accused on the night of June 17, 2015 at Lentsweletau in the Kweneng Administrative District, indecently assaulted his 12-year-old daughter.
He pleaded guilty to the offence and appeared in person after he briefed the court about his defence attorney’s withdrawal from the case.
Meanwhile, Assistant Superintendent Motshwari Mokamogo of Lentsweletau Police Post had on Tuesday arrested two men suspected of two robbery committed separately at Thejane and Sehikantsweng lands.
The two, John Kegalale and James Ramagonono aged 26 and 29 respectively of Ntlolengwae ward in Molepolole were charged with two counts of robbery contrary to Section 291 as read with section 292 sub-section two of the penal code.
On the first count, the two on the night of September 20 at or near Thejane lands near Mahetlwe in the Kweneng District Administrative jointly allegedly robbed Richard Rima P920 worth of valuables including P310 cash after they brutally assaulted him with an axe.
In the second count, the duo, who were working as herdboys at Mpuwe lands around the same area, allegedly attacked 82-year-old Ponoesele Gabosianelwe of Sehikantsweng lands robbing her of valuables amounting to P1 420 including P1 050 being the proceeds from a tuck shop after they brutally assaulted her.
The old woman, according to the prosecutor, had been released from hospital and was recuperating.
The prosecutor, ASP Mokamogo insisted on the accused’s remand, arguing that one of the victims was fighting for his life at Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone where he was receiving medical attention for multiple head injuries allegedly inflicted on him by the two accused persons.
He told the court that some of the stolen items were found in the accused’s possession, and that they be given extra time to pursue investigations.
The accused will appear again for mention on October 9. Ends
