Police appeal to public to identify body
17 Sep 2018
Jwaneng police are appealing to the public to come to Jwaneng mine hospital mortuary and identify the body that was discovered in a passage at Unit 3 on September 16.
The station commander Superintendent Thuso Basuti said a passerby alerted the police of the body of a female person around lunch time on September 16, who was later certified dead upon arrival at the Jwaneng mine hospital.
He said the deceased, who is estimated to be between 19 and 21, was found naked.
He said even though they were awaiting post-mortem results, preliminary investigations suggest that she might have been raped and killed.
Supt. Basuti also appealed to the public to help with information that might help with investigations, or lead to the arrest of the perpetrator(s).
He advised people to avoid walking alone, especially at night, as well as to use clearly-lit paths as compared to dark passages, which may increase their chances of being attacked. ENDS
