Miscellaneous coach, Otsile ‘Chippa’ Koolese labelled what they got against Notwane an ‘undeserved punishment’ after his team let slip of a two goal lead with less than 10 minutes of regular time remaining.
In a post-match interview at the Molepolole Sports Complex on Sunday, Koolese said with the display on the pitch from his team satisfactory and little time remaining, perhaps his players won the game before the actual final whistle.
“Our plan from the onset was to score an early goal and that worked fine when we managed that before the hosts.
Things got even better when we scored a second goal without reply from them,” he said.
Koolese said that the advantage must have lulled his players into thinking that the game was over when they held on to the advantage into the last minutes of the game.
“Unfortunately, we lapsed in the last and crucial minutes of the game and we got punished.
Our defence was not bad throughout the game as we managed to close down their frontline, but for the last minutes of the game,” he said.
Like the saying goes, ‘one man’s meat is another man’s poison,’ Notwane assistance coach, Davies Kopi relished the last 10 minutes that Koolese rued.
“I would like to hail my team’s fighting spirit even to the last minute of the game.
This is what is needed in such competitive games. It is not that we were very bad though, our main undoing was missing many scoring opportunities but we never gave up and managed to get two late goals to collect a point,” he said.
Miscellaneous got their first break in the 27th minute through Zimbabwean international, Sadiki Takunda after he received in the box a cross from Chicco Molefe on the right wing.
Notwane backline failed to close him on time and he slotted past Michael Pepukani on Notwane goals. After the break, Miscellaneous looked to be on course to maximum points when Mooketsi Gareonne’s 78th minute strike made it 2-0 after being fed by Takunda after a good run on the right wing.
Two minutes later, Takunda made an identical run, but this time made a poor attempt at goal instead of feeding Atlang Morwamang who was clear at goal and could have put the game beyond Notwane.
Toronto then made a dramatic comeback with eight minute to go after Thabo Mosielele handled in his own box, and Pepukani made a long run across the field to slot home the resultant penalty.
Then a stoppage time strike by Emmanuel Sekwena ensured Toronto got a point that seemed unlikely. ENDS
