JwanengMabutsane UDC results withheld

20 Aug 2018

Botswana National Front (BNF) Jwaneng/Mabutsane primary election results for the constituency and Khakhea council ward have been withheld pending investigations.

According to the returning officer Mr Rejoice Dintwa, elections went well in all the 12 council wards except for Khakhea ward, which did not arrive within the expected time frame.

“We have received both the council and constituency results for 12 wards except for Khakhea ward, therefore we cannot release the results until the investigations are over. We expected all results to have been availed by 7am Sunday (August 19),” he said.

He said the elections committee and the National Election Board would meet and map a forward on the issue, noting that in the 12 council wards whose results had been availed, there have been no protests so far.

He however said the candidates were given up to seven days to lodge complaints if there were any.

Incumbent MP, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile, Unit 7 Councillor Mr Tsietsi Oodira-Kwenje and Mr Celsius Rambe are battling for Jwaneng/Mabutsane Parliamentary seat to represent BNF under the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) in the 2019 general elections. ENDS
