A teenegaer aged 18, of Magobelelo Ward in Hukuntsi appeared before Magistrate court on August 13, facing rape charge.

The alleged rape occured on August 11 at Gakhibana ward.

The accused told the court that he would seek legal representation, and pleaded with the court to grant him bail because he had pending errands at home.

Failure to disclose the pending errands to the court earned the accused a warning from Magistrate Tshepo Magatse who reminded him that he was facing a serious matter that could land him in prison for a minimum of 10 years. 

The magistrate urged him to respect the court and treat the matter seriously.

Mr Magatse ordered that the accused be remanded in police custody pending the ongoing police investigations.

Assistant Superintendent Poloko Oteng from Tshane Police station represented the public prosecution office in the matter. 

The accused will appear again for mention on August 27. ENDS
