Francistown DC promotes team work

Francistown District Commissioner Ms Chabongwa Matseka has urged heads of department in the country’s second city to unite and support each other’s initiatives.
Ms Matseka said this during an Urban Development Committee (UDC) meeting on Wednesday in Francistown where she expressed her disappointment over the low attendance of stakeholders from various departments at the International Youth Day commemoration hosted earlier this week.
She said as a team that was focused on moving Francistown forward, stakeholders needed to involve each other on activities hosted in the district and allow information to be shared among departments as well as continue to work together and support one another as public servants.
The DC noted that in order to have effective and efficient employees, HODs should have engagement meetings and interactive meetings with staff so as to address whatever issues they may have.
“For us to govern our departments well, we need to take care of staff welfare, their issues and their complaints,” she added.
Ms Matseka further urged stakeholders to avoid allowing customer issues to escalate to ministerial level even though they could easily be resolved within the department.
“Try to always be prompt and sharp when addressing clients and their complaints,” she advised.
The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development Francistown coordinator Ms Minkie Bokole also expressed her dissatisfaction over the lack of attendance by heads of department at the event, which was hosted by her ministry.
Ms Bokole stated that though invitations were sent out in time, many departments were not represented at the event.
She however said she was hopeful that in the future, all stakeholders would participate and support one another. ENDS
