A nine-year-old boy is recuperating at Letsholathebe Memorial hospital after he was attacked by a crocodile at Thamalakane River on August 9.
The boy is reported to be a standard four pupil at Letsholathebe Primary School in Maun.
Senior Superintendent Peter Gochela confirmed the incident noting that the victim was playing with others along the river bank when he met his fate.
He said the boy was left with serious injuries as he sustained deep wound in the left thigh.
Senior Superintendent Gochela appealed to parents to take good care of their children as the river continued flooding noting that they should ensure they played in a safe environment.
He said as elevated water levels continued, it was important for all to avoid dangerous situations that may put their safety at risk.
Meanwhile, Maun station commander, Superintendent Motlhaba Ramabya revealed that they were investigating an incident where a 36-year-old man allegedly raped a 11-year-old girl at Sexaxa settlement, 18 kilometres from Maun.
It is reported the suspect called the victim to his house while playing with others outside the yard and sexually abused her.
Superintendent Ramabya said the suspect was arrested and assisting police with investigations..ENDS
