Councillor donates school bags

The councillor for Mmalekokopu ward in Palapye, Mr Omphemetse Kgotlaetsile has donated 50 canvas bags to pupils of different primary schools.
Speaking in an interview after the donation, Mr Kgotlaetsile emphasised the importance of donating to destitute and less privileged children as it gave them dignity and motivated them to work hard academically.
He said leaders should promote the spirit of giving in their communities, and also encouraged students to engage in community work to improve the livelihoods of other people.
Mr Kgotlaetsile donated school bags at various schools including Kediretswe, Khurumela and Boipuso primary schools.
“I know the struggle that pupils are going through.
I have made it my responsibility to assist with school bags so that their books are kept safe and clean,” he said.
He urged members of the public and other stakeholders to help government take care of orphaned and needy children.
The councillor described children as a blessing, hence deserved to be taken care of. “These bags are made of strong material so generally I urge parents to take care of everything that is being donated to their children in order to use them in the future.”
He sent gratitudes to parents for being there in the upbringing of their children and supportive in academic work.
Kediretswe Primary School head, Mr Gagoetsiwe Malete described Mr Kgotlaetsile as a compassionate, kind-hearted and caring citizen.
He thanked him for the donation and urged him to continue doing the same to pupils from other schools.
Social and community development officer, Ms Kutlo Bareki also thanked Mr Kgotlaetsile for making a difference in the children’s lives.
She said the donation would go a long way in assisting the children to improve their academic performance. She reiterated Mr Kgotlaetsile’s call to the Palapye community and other stakeholders to help government take care of orphaned and needy children. BOPA
