Botho key to academic excellence

In an effort to revive the academic performance of Form 3 school leavers Molopo River Junior Secondary School held a two weeks behavioural change and study camps.
Speaking during a closing ceremony recently, school head, Ms Connie Kabasia said the objectives of the camps were to encourage students to work hard to improve the results of the school and equip students with life coping skills.
She said in the past three years his school registered declining results in junior certificate and they had school dropouts which was worrisome hence the necessity for conducting the camps.
Ms Kabasia said botho was key in attaining good results, and a students with respect excel in his or her studies and achieve their dreams in life.
She said students were future leaders that could drive Botswana forward so they had to be polished to become better leaders.
She advised students to self-inspect and change their behaviours so that they could reach their destiny and there was no sweet without sweat in life.
Ms kabasia said they hoped that the camps had impact and by the end of the year they would see good results.
She applauded the parents, teachers and other stakeholders who supported the initiative and urged them to continue rallying behind them whenever they needed support.
For his part, Phitshane Molopo Police Station, Assistant Superintendent Solomon Lesedi, also emphasised the need to have botho as a student because it gave direction for someone to know their destiny.
He said students should set themselves goals and follow them so that they could achieve what they aspired for.
He advised students to choose good companions, highlighting that good friends reflected good character while negative ones deraiedl and shattered one’s dreams.
Assistant Superintendent Lesedi said as the police, they supported discipline and they wanted to build a nation with good moral values.
When motivating students, Word Crackers tutor, Ms Lebogang Malebye, advised students to start building their lives early noting that persistence and consistence were key in academic excellence.
She also shared the sentiment that student should audit their lives and choose good friends and shut down disturbing activities that could ruin their lives adding that students should plan their work and accumulate knowledge to be successful in life. ENDS
