Church provides hope to hopeless people

24 Jul 2018

Ntlo ya Dikgosi chairperson, Kgosi Puso has applauded churches for the critical role they play in the development of communities.

Speaking during the handing over of a donation of food hampers and blankets to 100 needy people by Holly Ghost House International Church in Mmopane Village recently, Kgosi Gaborone, also Batlokwa kgosi  said churches provided hope to the hopeless as they continued to show commitment to the plight of the vulnerable segments of the community.

He said giving was not complete when it was not accompanied by love, adding, “Let us be seen working towards advocating for providing unconditional love for our giving to be meaningful.”

Kgosi Gaborone said he was of the view that giving can only make a difference when it was done to achieve something, rather than with the intention to just make a difference, emphasising the need for churches to commit to also empower the needy, not to just for it to be among the statistics of givers.

The over P40 000 donation, he further said, was made in conjunction with the celebration of one of the founders of Holly Ghost International Church Apostle Dr Jackson Kgopolo’s 51th birthday.

Kgosi Gaborone also challenged the recipients to reciprocate by providing what they can best offer to fellow community members such as simple love.

“You need to provide love to your fellow man as it is indispensable before one can think of any material stuff,” he advised.

The donation was officially handed over to individual beneficiaries by Lentsweletau/Mmopane Member of Parliament, also Minister of Infrastructure and Housing Development, Mr Vincent Seretse.

Giving an inspirational message, Mr Tiro Seloma challenged members of the business community to commit certain portions of their profits to make a difference in the lives of communities they operate within.

“Let’s strive towards life changing and bringing hope to the hopeless,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pastor Baitse further stated that Holy Ghost House International is committed to the spirit of giving, revealing that the church had made similar gestures to individuals around Gaborone, Serowe, as well as donation of houses in Kalamare and Ramotswa.

He said the intention is not to gain popularity, but to touch the lives of people who have been challenged. ENDS
