Nswazwi residents in Nkange constituency have commended government for allocating their village two posts for herdmen of arbitration.

Briefing their MP, Mr Edwin Batshu at a kgotla meeting last week, the Village Development Committee (VDC) chairperson, Ms Keatlaretse Maule said they counted themselves fortunate for the development.

She said they remained hopeful that those not yet included would be considered as well.

In addition, the chairperson said they were also pleased with the refurbishment of the junior secondary school, noting that it had been in a bad state for years and as such was not conducive for learning.

She said now that maintenance was being done, it would boost morale of staff and learners to improve academic results.

On other issues, Ms Maule asked the MP to update them on the progress of Ntimbale water reticulation in their area. She said the village was faced with water shortage due to blockage of water pipes.

Mr Batshu said government took a decision that in the current financial year, there would be an allocation for 652 paid herdmen of arbitration and the two from their village were among these.

He said those who were not paid would remain in the waiting list until such a time that government could make an allocation for them.

At Makuta, Mr Batshu informed residents that while awaiting funds to construct a clinic, the Ministry of Health and Wellness resolved to avail a porta-cabin to be used as a clinic.

He said the temporary facility would come as package with two nurses and urged residents to utilise it while awaiting construction of a clinic.

Residents appreciated the update and noted they were disappointed after being informed that their clinic was shelved due to shortage of funds.

The VDC chairperson, Mr Kitso Mukani assured the MP that they would utilise the facility fully and would save costs since they had been seeking health services at Nswazwi, Sebina and Tutume. ENDS
