Boiteko trust donates school uniform
03 Jul 2018
Boiteko Trust recently donated 68 complete school uniforms to pupils of Mmualefhe Primary School.
Speaking at the event, deputy permanent secretary- governance in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Colonel Duke Masilo commended the two donors for their benevolence.
He commended Boiteko Trust for positively partaking in the development of learners, whilst simultaneously playing a compassionate and caring role.
Col Masilo said research had shown that learners who found themselves different from others were usually distracted and performed poorly in their academics.
He said the gesture by Boiteko Trust would also address the problem of poor performance by less privileged children.
He commended all stakeholders who meaningfully participated in the improvement of the school’s academic performance.
In 2011, the school got 59 per cent ABC pass but the results have been rising every year until the school achieved a 85.3 per cent pass last year.
Col Masilo appealed to parents to ensure proper care of the uniforms so that pupils could continue enjoying the gifts for longer.
To the students, he appealed that they start carving their future in earnest, calling on them to desist from wayward behaviour. He encouraged them to listen attentively both at home and school, saying the skill will bear abundant fruits.
The deputy PS also challenged students endowed with other skills besides academics to hone them coupled with academics to become well-rounded humans.
He urged teachers to use the donations as an opportunity to yield positive results and thereby drawing attention to more potential donors and sponsors to the school, adding that not every donor would assist a school that does not exhibit signs of improvement.
To achieve better results, Col Masilo appealed to teachers to go an extra mile, love and cherish their jobs as well as loving and caring for learners they are entrusted with by the parents and government.
Meanwhile, at the same event, Kanu Equipment donated three television sets, three DVD players and video recorders to the school as part of its corporate social responsibility.
The company also donated and installed two air-conditioners in the school’s computer laboratory. ENDS
