Station commander applauds volunteers
25 Jul 2013
Maun station commander Superintendent Kenanao Badumetse has applauded police volunteers for their good work.
Speaking in an interview, Supt Badumetse said police volunteers’ work was commendable even though at first, the public underrated the initiative but had now realised their importance in the society. He also said police volunteers’ duty was vital, as during their patrols they were the ones who attended to crimes, which were taking place before the arrival of police officers.
Supt Badumetse said volunteers who are mostly youth, offer a helping hand, especially that they were familiar with criminals in their localities better than the police and also knew the locations better as in most cases they patrolled their areas of residence.
He commended the volunteers, noting that most of them did their work with all their hearts with the intention of curbing crime even though some take it as a source of employment. ENDS
