An official from Bank Gaborone - Mall branch Mr Idris Chelete says education is the most powerful weapon that can be used to change the world.
Speaking during the donation of stationary from Bank Gaborone employees to Mmatseta Primary School recently, Mr Chelete said they were motivated by the fact that education was the hope for the development of a country.
The school received three chalkboards with easel steels, 300 notebooks, dusters, pens and pencils, rubbers and four litter bins.
Mr Chelete said the strength of any country lies within the young people and as a result, they realised the need to strengthen them at primary level.
“If one looks around the world, they will realise that those countries that are developed have a strong foundation in terms of education and catching up in education must be our priority as developing countries,” he said.
He said the donation was done with the hope that it would assist pupils in their studies and contribute to the development of the school.
Mr Chelete further urged teachers to be role models to pupils and asked them to be patient and guide them accordingly every step of the way.
He pleaded with parents to be cooperative and work hand in hand with teachers for the development and growth of children, insisting that they must be the ones encouraging their children to study hard.
For her part, Mmatseta Primary School Parents Teachers Association (PTA) additional member Ms Nonofo Morweng expressed gratitude for the gesture by Bank Gaborone on behalf of the school and the village.
She said they count themselves lucky to receive such kind of gift and asked teachers and parents to help pupils take good care of the donated items.
She pleaded with pupils to dream bigger and study hard in order to produce better results.
Ms Morweng said the aim of the school was to provide quality primary education to all learners in order to produce capable and competent students. Ends
