Keorapetse Nkawana unopposed in BCP primary elections

The Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Publicity Secretary Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse says his organisation’s primary elections to choose candidates to represent the BCP in the 2019 general elections went well over the weekend .
Mr Keorapetse who is also Member of Parliarment for Selebi Phikwe West Constituency said the BCP Parliamentary seat candidate for the Selebi Phikwe East Constituency Mr Kgoberego Nkawana was unopposed as well as himself.
However, in the Mmadinare Constituency, two candidates Messrs Mokwaledi Bagwasi and Sennye Obuseng faced off, resulting in Mr Bagwasi being elected the representative of the party in the coming general elections. Regarding council seats in the Selebi Phikwe West constituency Mr Keorapetse indicated that Thakadiawa Ward candidate Ms Evelyn Kgodungwe and Lesedi Ward Candidate Ms Phemelo Nthwane were unopposed in the primary election while two wards being Kopano and Sesame South Wards will hold their primary elections on June 23, 2018.
He said other wards in the Selebi Phikwe West Constituency which include Sesame/Kagiso, Hospital/Meriting and Bontleng will not be represented in general elections as they did not hold primary elections. He said primary elections were held in six wards in the Selebi Phikwe East Constituency which included Botshabelo East, Botshabelo South, Botshabelo North, Botshableo Central, Ikageleng Phase I, and Ikageleng Phase II.
