Medical aid reaches out to members
12 Jun 2018
The role of medical insurers goes beyond premiums and paying claims as it includes helping members manage their wellbeing from an earlier age to an advanced stage.
“As medical insurers, you need to get more involved in your members’ workplaces and homes so as to find a way of packaging products that can manage members’ wellbeing,” Bomaid chief executive officer Mr Moraki
Mokgosana at the Bomaid members and health practitioners breakfast seminar in Maun recently.
Mr Mokgosana further said there was a need for the partnership of medical insurers and members pointing out that if members adopted a healthy living it may help reduce the burden that the fund had been experiencing before.
He said Bomaid had on-going projects which included the revamping of the Francistown office to a fully functional one to cater for the needs of members in the northern region as well as develop and enforce customer standards in an effort to improve their customer experience.
He said this year some of the fund’s product enhancements included a wellness benefit which involved annual general health check, a cover for bone density scan and rabies vaccine prophylaxis , among others.
“Our key priorities for the year 2018 is to invest in people since it is essential for them as members to know what is happening in their medical aid fund,” he said.
Bomaid sales and marketing manager, Ms Beulah Mapitse said the objective of the seminar was to bring together the fund members and health providers so as to engage with them and get feedback regarding the medical aid fund.
Ms Mapitse also said that the outreaches were also to update members on some new developments at the fund and hear members’ concerns that they may have regarding the products and services of the fund.
She further informed members on the newly launched Bomaid Fraud and Ethics Tip-off line, which she said was introduced to help members to be vigilant and report any wrong-doing that may lead to both the fund and members losing a lot of money.
Members were happy to learn about the fund’s new benefits especially the screening and prevention wellness benefits and urged the fund to do more outreach work to reach more members. ENDS
