Ministry suspends BAITS to allow upgarding

Ministry of Agriculture Development and Food Security will suspend the Botswana Animal Information and Traceability System (BAITS) services next month to allow system upgrading.
“The ministry is performing this upgrade to ensure increased uptime and better stability of the system, enhanced system features and functionality,” a press release from the ministry states.
The release states that the system shutdown will take four weeks from July 1-31 while the upgrading is being done.
It explains that the works to be undertaken will include BAITS infrastructure upgrade, BAITS applications upgrade, data migration and training.
Services to be affected are brands issuance, keeper registration, online registration of animals, electronic movement permit issuance, electronic import in transit and export permit issuance as well as farmer BAITS online access. ENDS
