06 Jun 2018

Cashbuild Store has donated P96 000 to eight primary schools in Maun.

The schools include Shashe, Sekgoma, Bonatla, Chanoga, Mathiba, Komana, Botswelelo and Kubung primary schools.

Each school was given P12 000 worth of building materials.

In an interview, Cashbuild Store manager, Mr Moses Johane said primary schools were the foundation of education, hence their choice.

He said most primary schools in and around Maun faced shortage of classrooms, hence the donation to help remedy the situation.

‘’We will continue to help where necessary to improve education in the areas we trade in round the country,’’ he added.

Meanwhile, principal education officer in the Ministry of Basic Education, Mr Mosebo Molapisi said it was the obligation of any government to provide education to its citizens.

“Providing quality education entails making the learning environment conducive and responsive to the contemporary and socio-economic needs of different learners,’’ he said.

Mr Molapisi said the building materials would offer learners the dignity that they so much deserved and it would encourage them to enthusiastically work hard towards realising and appreciating their potentials.

He further acknowledged Cashbuild Stores for distinguishing itself as an esteemed and true partner in the development of education in Botswana.

He urged schools management to make it a worthwhile opportunity to better the academic performances of their institutions.

‘’Let us remain committed, accountable and responsible for providing the lifelong education to our children, thus turning our country into a knowledge-based economy,’’ he said. ENDS
