NOW FOR THEM donates

06 Jun 2018

A community trust known as “NOW FOR THEM” has donated solar lamps, books, pens, pencils, bags, t-shirts and hats to Sekhutlane Primary School.

Speaking at the handover ceremony recently, the Tlokweng based trust’s national coordinator, Ms Gaone Matthiessen said the gesture came through a programme dubbed “Marang a Thuto” in which they donated solar lamps to communities and individuals who had no access to electricity.

Ms Matthiessen said the programme aimed to aid pupils through their education process in order to become competitive.

Outlining the objectives of the event, the district coordinator at the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development (MYESCD), Ms Malebogo Mosala said the trusts initiative was appreciated, adding that the donation might be perceived to be small, but that it was going to motivate the recipients and serve a purpose.

Ms Mosala urged parents to monitor their children to properly use the lamps so that they bring changes in their lives.

For his part, Southern District Remote Area Development Programme (RADP) coordinator, Mr Thamiso Chabalala thanked the trust for the investment they made in the education of Sekhutlane pupils, saying the donation would be a long lasting memory in their lives and urged pupils to protect the lamps.
