Police in Maun are investigating a case in which an 18-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a 26-year-old taxi driver who is also her cousin on June 3.
Deputy officer commanding for District No.5 Superintendent John Kelebeng said in an interview that the incident happened in the afternoon around 5pm at Thito ward.
Superintendent Kelebeng said the victim was visiting the taxi driver on the day when she met her fate.
He said the suspect was arrested on the same day the incident was reported.
Meanwhile, Superintendent Kelebeng said a 39-year-old man was in police custody for assaulting his 32-year-old younger brother on June 3.
Supt Kelebeng said the two had a misunderstanding, which led to the older brother allegedly hitting the younger brother with an object on the head continuously, resulting in the younger brother sustaining severe head injuries.
The victim, he said, was admitted at Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital.
Furthermore, Supt Kelebeng said the police were investigating a case in which two boys of Nxwerii cattlepost were attacked by a leopard on June 3.
Supt Kelebeng said the two boys aged 11 and 14 were riding a donkey while searching for other donkeys when the leopard attacked them, causing head injuries on both siblings.
He said the two boys were rushed to Gumare Primary Hospital and the leopard was shot and handed to the Department of Wildlife and National Parks authorities. ENDS
