Kanye venue for 2018 Day of the African Child

Southern District Council will host this year’s Day of the African Child to be commemorated under the theme, Leave No Child Behind For Africa’s Development.

Speaking in an interview, Principal Public Relations Officer at Kanye Administration Authority, Mr Onkabetse Ntwe said the day would be commemmorated in Kanye on June 18.

meetings are held every week by all government departments in Kanye to prepare for national event of The African Child Day.

He stated that there will be essay competitions in Southern District, adding that every school will have a representative in essay writing based on this year’s theme and winners awarded accordingly.

Mr Ntwe also noted that essay competitions will be in three categories being: primary, junior and senior schools based on their levels of writing and local teachers will be used to mark those essays.

Furthermore, he stated that preparations of Mr and Miss June 16 are also underway. He said the contestants consist of 18 participants from 3 schools being; Seepapitso, Moshupa and Good hope, and will be held on the 15th of June at Marapalalo Community Hall in Kanye and said since the events are for the youth to celebrate their achievement they must come in numbers to the commemoration. 

Mr Ntwe said the event will commence with a march in the morning from Mongala Mall to Montshiwa grounds where the celebration will be held.

Mr Ntwe urged the public to grace the event in numbers to take home messages delivered by different speakers on the day, and encouraged the public to partake in the march that will take place in the morning of the event. ENDS
