Kgosi applauds govt

Government has been applauded for positively responding to some Chanoga village concerns.
The commendation came from Chanoga’s Kgosi Oateng Setlhodi following the allocation of a new vehicle to the kgotla which he had long requested. The kgotla had been operating without a vehicle since its establishment in 1984.
Kgosi Setlhodi revealed in an interview that shortage of transport had been a major challenge which frustrated their efforts to execute their duties.
He said they experienced difficulties in collecting debts and executing other responsibilities within his jurisdiction. “I am very thankful to the government for answering my plea after so many years. The vehicle would indeed make our work easy and it would motivate us to do more as most of the time we used our personal vehicles,” he said.
On other issues, Kgosi Setlhodi expressed happiness that community projects were progressing well in the village citing the horticulture project and a guest house.
He said they had been allocated P650 000 from the constituency funds with which they intended to refurbish the guest house and would decide what they could do with the remaining amounts.
Initially, he said, the community proposed to construct a recreational hall but the funding they had was far less to undertake the project hence they decided to upgrade their guest house.
He said the VDC would meet to review their project proposals and prioritise projects.
The horticulture project commenced this year with funding assistance from the Office of the President.
The project followed the decision by the Office of the President to identify six villages where the project could be piloted under Poverty Eradication Programme.
Kgosi Setlhodi said the project was on track and would make a huge impact in the lives of the communities. ENDS
