Moswaane urges residents to seize opportunities

05 Jun 2018

Member of Parliament for Francistown West, Mr Ignatius Moswaane has implored Francistown residents to utilise government initiatives to improve their lives.

Mr Moswaane said this during a kgotla meeting in Tatitown recently where he informed residents that the Department of Gender Affairs had been awarded over P54 million to help women improve their lives by setting up businesses.

He noted that the grants offered by the department would not always be available, and that residents should use the money now while government still had money to help fund local businesses.

The MP also noted that the Youth Development Fund (YDF) was awarded over P120 million to fund youth businesses across the country.

He encouraged youth with a desire to be successful business owners to apply for the fund.

Mr Moswaane pleaded with residents to appreciate efforts by government to assist them, noting that Botswana was among the few countries that still funded local business owners and urged residents to show appreciation by making use of the opportunities.

Tatitown resident, Ms Naledi Mhaladi decried shortage of medication at government health facilities.

However, Mr Moswaane noted that health workers across the country had been advised to call other facilities for assistance, and to go as far as finding the means to collect medication on behalf of patients where necessary.

“Batswana should demand good service instead of begging for it. If you are unsatisfied with the services you are receiving, request to see facility management,” he stated. ENDS
