MP advocates for second Omang office

Member of Parliament for Francistown East, Mr Buti Billy says there is need to set up a second Omang office in the city.
Mr Billy said this when addressing residents of Satellite South in a kgotla meeting on June 2.
He noted that the Francistown Omang office had nine officers that helped customers from Francistown and the surrounding villages.
He also revealed that the Francistown office received approximately 300 customers a day, but could only assist around 50.
“Officers are not being negligent or not delivering, they are understaffed. I will consult with the rightful minister to help address this issue because having an Omang card is compulsory for every Motswana,” he added
Meanwhile, Mr Billy also encouraged residents of Satellite South to utilise kgotla meetings for issues that would benefit and develop the community.
He also pleaded with them to look for ways to help the less privileged and come up with projects that would improve the community.
For his part, the chairperson of the Ward Development Committee (WDC), Mr Moathodi Nthebolang suggested that the terms of WDC members should be increased to allow them to carry out and complete community projects they started before another committee was elected.
In response to Mr Moathodi’s suggestion, MP Billy agreed that the WDC terms were too short, adding that it would be best if they served for five or more years in order to complete projects, promising to take their suggestions to Parliament.
The area councillor, Mr Godisang Radisigo urged residents to vote for WDC committee members who were eager to work and were trustworthy. ENDS
