Artistes perform for good course

Mogoditshane Millennium Jazz Restaurant was alive with enjoyment as Zen Promotions brought jazz artistes together to raise funds for Hirschfield’s good deeds project.

Benson Phuthego, Bhudhaza  Mapefane and Tshenolo kept people on their feet throughout the night, bridging old folklore and new tunes together. Managing Director of Zen Promotions, Zenzele Hirschfield hosted a jazz concert to raise funds for her 10 good deeds project aimed at helping the less privileged members of society.

Hirschfield said in an interview that the proceedings from the show would help organise and sponsor a two-day art workshop. The workshop, she said, would provide a platform for people with disabilities to showcase their talents to the corporate community. Benson got the crowd going and dancing animatedly to folklore music from the old days which he incorporated into his performance.

In an interview, Benson said, “it is amazing how many people have come out here to enjoy the show, I am very happy that the funds gained from this event will go towards promoting the disabled artistes of various forms of art so that they are recognized for their talents and skills.”

He also performed some songs from his latest album, Jive Africa, which promoted life experiences that people had gone through and shared in music that promoted self-belief and self-value. “I promote patriotism in my music,” he added.

Fans were also excited by the performance from Lesotho’s  Bhudhaza, who even though had only just met the band he performed with put on a virtuous performance.

He also took time to jam some classic tunes from folklore music and also blessed the crowd with songs from his most recent album Likgomo alongside Tshenolo, who’s voice enlighten local jazz devotees. Bhudhaza said, “I can see we have great support and the project is growing. Botswana has become my second home, every time I come to Botswana I know I’m going to meet my people and I am always received very well.”

The MTN SAMA Award winning artist said he was in the process of organizing local artists, including people living with disability to showcase their talent in Lesotho.

“With this event, we are on the right track in creating a forum for cultural exchange in various forms of art. As artistes we need to be passionate and love what we do, not to do music just to be famous but to follow art with passion, and eventually fame will come,” he added.

Promoters of the event called upon those who are motivated to make a change and lend a helping hand to a good cause. ENDS
