03 Jun 2018

Assistant Minister of Basic Education, Mr Thato Kwerepe has commended Ghanzi region education staff for donating a recreational park to Charleshill.

Speaking during the handing over ceremony of the recreational park on May 30, Mr Kwerepe said the gesture showed that teachers and their supporting staff were keen in helping the community they served, and that it was also a testimony that they were the bedrock of the community.

He said it was pleasing to see the teaching staff going the extra mile beyond their primary mandate to help the community despite the challenges they faced in their profession.

Mr Kwerepe hailed teachers for enduring the difficult conditions they were facing.

The assistant minister also thanked all those who had contributed towards the building of the park, among them Kwena Rocla, BOSETU, BTU, Serokolwane loans and Letshego.

He challenged the community to use the park sensibly and for the targeted purpose. Ends

Village Development Committee (VDC) chairperson, Mr Wilfred Kwadipane commended the teachers for the donation. He, however, said that  operational and maintenance costs should be shared and not left to the VDC alone because they had no funds.

Charleshill Sub Council chairperson, Mr Alec Motlhophele promised that they would look after the park so that it benefited the future generations. Ends
