After clocking new personal best times in every race at the recent Commonwealth Games in Australia, Botswana’s 400 metres runner, Christine Botlogetswe is now receiving numerous international invitations.

On Sunday (June 3), she will compete at the IAAF World Challenge in Hengelo, 

Netherlands.

Recently, Botlogetswe stamped her authority in 400 metres, sending a strong signal to her competitors that she is ready to compete in the Diamond League by clocking 51.22 in Oordegem, Belgium.

Expectations are that she will continue to raise the country’s flag high despite strong competition.

She will face Shakima Wimbley, Floria Guei, both from the USA, Justyna Święty-Ersetic from Poland, Lisanne De Witte, Nicky Van Leuveren, Madiea Ghafoor and Laura De Witte from the Netherlands.

However, with her form and confidence this season, it will not come as a surprise if she reaches the finish line first with a new personal best.

Track and field analyst, Billy Tambula said he was confident that Botlogetswe would make a mark in all the international competitions she was invited to.

“Having recorded her Personal Best (PB) in both 200m and 400m this year, it shows that the balance in her fitness, speed, power and endurance are good,” he said.

Tambula said the athlete’s season looks promising, and that she was ready to compete at the highest level.

Furthermore, he noted that Botlogetswe has been consistent in her 400m races, and that she has been running the race in about 51 seconds.

He added that with a couple of races she might be able to run 400 metres in below 51 seconds, which is the time for top runners.

“Perfecting the race plan in the World Challenge and other major events is not easy, but if she can participate more in those races she will be able to,” he said.

The race will be live on Supersport 9 from 4:55pm. ENDS
