Mochudi East Member of Parliament, Mr Moagi Molebatsi has commended St John Apostolic Church youth for donating toiletry hampers to two needy children in Mochudi.
Speaking during the donation ceremony on May 27, Mr Molebatsi said the gesture showed how compassionate they were to society.
Mr Molebatsi said doing good unto others was pleasant before God’s eyes and should count as a blessing.
He said the donation would strengthen the relation of the church and society as well as bring more people to the church.
Mr Molebatsi said they should not boast about the donation, but to take it as a privilege to have helped needy people in society.
“Do good unto others as it is pleasant before God, but do not boast about it, if you do so, you will block your blessings,” he said.
Mr Molebatsi encouraged the youth to trust in the Lord and to do what pleased Him, and that they woiuld be blessed accordingly.
Outlining the objectives of the day, the coordinator of the project, Ms Rose Kokeletso said the youth had embarked on playing a role in the community by giving back and lending a helping hand to the needy.
Ms Kokeletso appreciated the donation, which she said was filled with love from the youth, as they had donated the little money they had in order to buy the toiletry.
Moshawana social worker, Ms Boingotlo Matlhabaphiri appreciated the donation on behalf of the children, saying it would bring smiles to them to know that they were being appreciated.
Ms Matlhabaphiri said she wished other churches could copy from what the youth did in order to bring more souls to the kingdom of God.
She said society was faced with social ills such as drug and alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy and other forms of abuse, saying such ills could be reduced if the church partnered with them to reduce lawless behaviour. ENDS
