Magistrate court staff donate to needy

29 May 2018

Masunga Magistrate Court employees have donated household essentials to a needy family in Gambule.

The family comprises six children who are being looked after by their grandmother following the death of their mother.

The donated items included mattresses, blankets and polar fleeces, food, cutlery, plates, pots, cups and other kitchen utensils.

Handing over the gifts to the Elias family,  Magistrate Segametsi Basinyi said their duty usually separated them from society since they adjudicated criminal cases, and that they deemed it necessary to do something that would bring them closer to society.

“Donating to these children is a way of giving back to the community, to show that we also care about society,” she said.

She encouraged the Elias children who are mostly attending primary schools to believe in themselves and pursue their dream careers.

“A name like Moemedi indicates that this child is destined to be a representative for bigger things to come,” she noted in reference to one of the children’s names.

She advised the children to always trust in God and believe that whatever situation they may go through they could overcome.

She also enlightened them about focusing on the future in order to succeed in life and make their grandmother proud, adding that they should not let their background determine their future and limit themselves.

In her remarks, assistant district commissioner, Ms Wapapha Wally commended the court staff for the good deed.

She said God blessed those who gave to others and that the gifts given to the children would change their lives for the better.

“It is one of the government priorities to eradicate poverty; therefore I am grateful that you have decided to help those in need,” she said.

Ms Wally encouraged the children to grow up fearing and believing in God in order to prosper in life.

She also urged their grandmother to continue raising the children with the much needed love and support. ENDS
