Sefalana engages in clean-up campaign

Mahalapye Sub-council has applauded Sefalana Store for contributing towards a clean environment.
The store has resolved to engage in clean-up campaigns every Friday in response to an appeal by council authorities to the business community in Mahalapye to partake in cleaning the environment.
The clean-up campaign started from the bus rank through Botalaote ward.
Speaking at the Sefalana customer service day which also included the maiden litter collection event recently, environmental health officer, Mr Mopati Tapiso said it was unfortunate that the community of Mahalapye was never at the forefront as they fared badly in environmental cleanliness competitions.
He said it did not place the village in good standing, and he commended efforts by Sefalana to join hands with the council in a quest to create a clean Mahalapye.
“Our streets are very dirty. If you look around there are diapers and plastics all over, and Mahalapye Sub-council cannot achieve a clean Mahalapye alone,” he said.
He said the reality was that a dirty environment compromised health hence people would not achieve good health if they were stuck up in a dirty environment.
Mr Tapiso said it was evident that people were concerned with keeping up their appearances giving less regard to the environment.
He called on different stakeholders who attended the event to make it a point that environmental cleanliness became a priority to them, be it in their businesses or offices.
Giving a motivational talk, Ms Neo Tamuhla from District Health Management Team (DHMT), appealed to attendants to take health seriously emphasising that people should invest in their health.
Ms Tamuhla appealed to the gathering to take action and promote healthy lifestyles. She said DHMT was doing all it could to take health services to the people.
She further said engaging in exercises would go a long way in ensuring better health, adding that it could either be through working in the garden, jogging or aerobics. ENDS
