GetBucks adopts school

23 May 2018

Botswana has adopted Lapologang Primary School in Selebi Phikwe, in a partnership that saw the former donating winter school wear that included school shoes and track suits for pupils worth P240 000.

The adoption of the school will see the company providing the much needed goods and financial assistance to the school to promote improved learning for pupils.

A press release from GetBucks says the total donation handed over on the 18th of May included 468 tracksuits, 94 jerseys and 209 shoes amongst other materials. While this is a great start, GetBucks and the school will work together to find focus areas where the school lacks and assist when and where possible.

At the launch, the managing director of GetBucks Botswana, Mr Marthin de Kock and Lapologang’s headmaster, Mr Inspector Makhura signed a Memorandum of Understanding to adopt the school for a three-year period. Mr de Kock emphasised the need and importance of investing in the younger generation.

“We believe in investing in the youth as our children are the greatest asset to our nation. We were moved by the challenges being faced by the town and the impact this has on school going children. Our involvement is just a small way of making a difference at the school and the community in Phikwe,” said Mr de Kock.

The adoption was commemorated by a well-attended prize giving ceremony. It had dignitaries such as representatives of the area MP, representatives from the mayor’s office, the town clerk and the chief education officer, amongst others.

GetBucks Botswana is a FinTech company that embraces technology as a means to provide financial products and services to customers. GetBucks is part of the MyBucks Group, which is listed in the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

This was the second school GetBucks has adopted. The first was Kubung Primary School in Kweneng District. The three-year contract ended last year paving the way for Lapologang Primary School. ENDS
