Confucius Institute comes to Ftown

University of Botswana (UB) campus in Francistown will offer short courses in Chinese language and culture beginning September through UB’s Confucius Institute.

These courses will be offered to specific groups within the public service, the private sector and the public at large, which will be occasional public lectures and events related to Chinese culture and society.

The session runs for 12 weeks.

The director at the Confucius Institute at UB, Professor Pu Durong encouraged stakeholders to enroll.

He pointed out that since the world was changing and China being a trading partner with many countries, the institution would  also help in easy communication and dissemination of important information.

A representative of the Confucius Institute at UB, Ms Kgomotso Baleseng noted that as Botswana is a trading partner with China, Batswana need to learn the Chinese language so that they can be able to converse with the Chinese people in business.  BOPA
