Police in Mabutsane are investigating a case in which a Toyota Land Cruiser double cab vehicle belonging to the District Health Management Team (DHMT) was stolen in the early hours of Friday.
The Station Commander Superintendent Keitshokile Kebodiretswe said the two thieves, who were armed with an axe and a rake, cut the fence at the back and proceeded to attack the two security officers who were in the guard room.
Superintendent Kebodiretswe said the two men are said to have hit and handcuffed the security officers before locking them inside the toilet, after which they took the keys from the drawer and drove away.
He said the police were still investigating and no arrests had been made, while the security officers who are aged 30 and 42 were treated for minor injuries and discharged the same day.
In another incident, Supt Kebodiretswe said they were looking for a man who raped his 16 year old ex-girlfriend in Kokong on Saturday night.
He said the girl was reportedly walking home from a local bar when the suspect pounced on her, threatened her with a knife before proceeding to rape her.
He cautioned women against walking alone at night and also urged them to use paths where they can easily get help.
Furthermore, the station commander appealed to liquor traders to ensure that their customers were above the legal age limit of 18 since it was their responsibility to help enforce the law. Ends
