With just two years in the rugby world, Falcons Rugby Club has been lucky enough to attract several sponsors to their side.

The Tlokweng -based club received donations from Relven Holdings Botswana, Satoshi Centre, Royal Base and City Physio.

Relven Holdings Botswana, a retail warehouse distribution specialists, donated 22 appearance t-shirts and 22 warm-up shirts, all at the total value of P3 800.

Satoshi Centre, a database and integrated technology company specialising in software maintenance and crypto currency donated seven Gilbert rugby balls, various training equipment to the value of P1 300 and 17 stella coins currently valued at P18 000 to 17 players for investment, everything totaling P19 300.

Royal Base came on board as the technical sponsor, donating 15 appearance match day caps and 19 leisure t-shirts to the value of P2 000.

They have also offered the club some discounted prices on printing of replica jerseys for their supporters.

City Physio has donated 15 pairs of rugby shorts and free physio therapy including treatment of all sports injuries on players.

Speaking at the handover ceremony recently, the Member of Parliament for Tlokweng, Kenneth Segokgo commended the companies for their involvement in sport.

“Giving back to the community in which you are operating is very vital. I therefore commend you for a job well done,” he said.

Segokgo said sponsorship keeps teams going.

For his part, the founder of the club, Botshelo Bogatsu said Falcons Rugby Club was founded in an effort to introduce rugby to the Tlokweng community and as a way of instilling discipline to the youth.

“Our club started in the Reserve League last year. We are now competing in the President’s League, aiming to be competing in the Super league next year,” he said.

He further said it was through the support of private corporate and government entities that they will ultimately realise growth in different sports codes particularly rugby.

“With your support we will gradually change the status of rugby in Botswana from a semi-professional to a professional set up,” he added.

Further, he said club administrators would only be able to raise the flag of Botswana high if they have adequate support from local communities.

They would be able to produce totally competitive market ready players capable to compete for game time in internationally developed markets such as Japan and Wales. ENDS
