DT tracks to play in BBA house

21 Jul 2013

Dithuso Selepeng aka DT’s tunes from his newly released video titled “Tote rmx” will start playing in the Big Brother Africa reality show.

In an interview, DT said the reality show producers have selected tunes to be played in the Big Brother House.

The video is a modern yet traditional take on an African Melody that is well famous with different African nations.

DT explained that when artistes submit their music to the Big Brother Africa production team, the expected result was that the tracks will be placed on the daily playlists and furthermore the desired outcome was some sort of reaction from the housemates.

“The housemates will hear my songs such as Tote Remix and they will react to it as they will have heard the melody before I had done this remix,” he said.

He said his next move was to root positive and lively reaction from the housemates after which he will be summoned by the show producers to perform at one of the eviction shows which materialise on Sundays.

However, before that, DT and the Big Brother Africa officials signed some contracts that protect the Big Brother brand and him as an artiste.

DT is a traditional urban music artiste who first came to the scene as part of the group; Lords of the Ghetto in 1996 and decided to go solo in 2000.

He features Eddie Speaks in the video, who complements it with his own verse in English, giving the whole project a sense of diversity yet composed as two languages come together.

Quizzed on what he wished to portray with the video, DT affirmatively stated that one of his motivations for his videography was to shy away from the usual stereotypical format of HIP HOP videos of today, where big fancy houses portrayed an extravagant lifestyle with money, women and alcohol posed as tools of the trade.

“I want to show the wealth of my country, so that people especially Batswana can take pride in their country as well because it is truly beautiful.

Nowadays HIP HOP videos are all about showing off fancy cars and advertising women and money, and that’s not me.

I have been in this industry for about 20 years and I have come to the point where I want to lay my own path whilst I pave the way and open doors for others,” he said.

It is only evident that DT is fully passionate about the project as he revealed that it cost over P15 000, with an estimated span of a month and a half to complete.

DT also incorporated services of two well-known associates in the music industry, with Tawanda Bensen producing the song and BK Proctor doing the mixing and mastering. ENDS
